27 September 2019, Riyadh - Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) held its third monthly forum at its Headquarters in Riyadh. His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Abdul Karim Alkholifey, Governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) and the Chairman of the Anti-Money Laundering Permanent Committee, was the guest speaker in the forum. He was welcomed by His Excellency Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, Acting Secretary-General of IMCTC.
His Excellency Dr. Alkholifey delivered a talk titled “Foundations for building a National Strategy and an Action Plan of Combating Money-Laundering and Terrorist Financing” in the presence of IMCTC Member Countries’ Delegates and staff of the IMCTC Center. His Excellency highlighted in his lecture important aspects of countering terrorist financing in light of his extensive expertise in the field.
He, furthermore, discussed skills to handle terrorist financing issues, means to combat it, developing counter-terrorist-financing monitoring programs and media's role in raising communities’ awareness of terrorist financing crimes’ dangers and their negative affect on communities, countries and individuals.
Of great note, the Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) domain as well as the Ideology, Communications and Military domains are the 4 domains of action of IMCTC. IMCTC collaborates and coordinates with its 41 Member Countries’ CTF competent authorities to promote best practices, advance legal, regulatory and operational frameworks, facilitate information sharing and support prevention and detection operations related to terrorist financing.
