IMCTC held, December 9, 2021, a seminar on Situational Analysis of Features of Personality and Relevance to Psychology of Extremism at the IMCTC Headquarters delivered by Dr. Turki Mohammed Al-Atiyan, Professor of Psychology at IMSIU, Dr. Humaid Khalil Al-Shaiji, Professor of Sociology at KSU, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Dowah, an IMCTC staff member. Attendees included Secretary-General of IMCTC, delegates of the IMCTC member countries, and IMCTC personnel and staff.

Over the course of the seminar, Dr. Al-Atiyan discussed the situational analysis of features of personality and relevance to psychological aspects of religious extremists, and the associated role in forming ideologies that are likely to affect youth, being the main cause of youth engagement in criminal acts. On his side, Dr. Al-Shaiji addressed the social mechanisms that would help reintegrating extremists to coexist with the community, and the relevant role of the community.

Of good note, the workshop is part of a series of ideology-focused seminars and presentations held regularly by IMCTC. Ideology is part of the IMCTC four key counterterrorism domains: ideology, communications, combating terrorist financing, and military).
