The Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) concluded a three-day training course entitled "Fundamental Rules of International Humanitarian Law" on December 21, 2022, at its headquarters in Riyadh. The course was presented in collaboration with the Permanent Committee of International Humanitarian Law and attended by the IMCTC Secretary-General, member countries' delegates, IMCTC personnel, and members of the Permanent Committee of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

The course centered on the issues of IHL organizations and their roles, armed conflicts and internal disturbances, the relationship between international humanitarian law and international human rights law, the inception of the Permanent Committee for International Humanitarian Law in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the scope of IHL application and its implementation mechanism.

The course sessions discussed the concept of IHL in Islam, the concept of IHL in general and its applications, an introduction to its principles, its origins and accomplishments, and opportunities for developing and improving IHL to keep up with current developments. They also focused on the IHL principles, which are an extension of Islamic law, and its values of coexistence, tolerance, and acceptance of others, as well as building a world founded on brotherhood, cooperation, and peace.

This course is part of a joint cooperation between the IMCTC and local, regional, and international organizations, centers, and committees that are concerned with fostering peace and coexistence in accordance with the principles of moderation and balance outlined in the true religion of Islam.​
