THE COUNTER-TERRORISM DIRECTOR AT THE UNITED STATES NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL VISITS ISLAMIC MILITARY COUNTER TERRORISM COALITION CENTER IN RIYADH

3 September 2019, Riyadh: His excellency the Acting Secretary-General of Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, received Mr. Joseph Francescon, the Counter-Terrorism Director at United States National Security Council (US NSC), and his delegation at the IMCTC headquarters in Riyadh. The two parties discussed avenues of joint collaboration and perspectives on strengthening relations during the visit.

Several regional and international terrorism-related issues as well as efforts made towards those issues were discussed during the meeting between the visiting delegation and the IMCTC officials. The IMCTC role and achievements in the fight against terrorism across the four domains (Ideology, Communications, Counter Terrorist Financing and Military) were highlighted. Major General Al-Moghedi emphasized the importance of continuing joint collaboration and exchange of experience and expertise between both sides in fighting violent extremism and terrorism.
 
Mr. Francescon, for his part, commended the IMCTC efforts and role to coordinate and multiply the efforts of its Member Countries. He emphasized as well the importance of mutual cooperation and sharing of experience in the global fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

Francescon’s visit comes within the context of the IMCTC efforts to establish strategic partnerships among the IMCTC Member Countries, Supporting Nations and international organizations and to promote ongoing cooperation with countries worldwide to build capabilities, exchange global best practices, share counter-terrorism information and expertise and join other international security and peacekeeping efforts.
