IMCTC Participates in the 2nd Workshop for the Network of Countering Violent Extremism Centers

Against the backdrop of joint cooperation among centers and bodies involved in countering terrorism and violent extremism, IMCTC took part in the workshop organized by the GCC Secretariat-General, titled: “2nd Workshop for the Network of Countering Violent Extremism Centers.”


Col. Hassan bin Salman Al-Amri, Director of IMCTC General Directorate of Planning and Coordination, delivered a brief summary of IMCTC efforts in countering violent extremism and its role in coordinating all efforts in confronting terrorism narratives through initiatives in the ideology, communications, CTF and military domains. He further pointed out that IMCTC is based on the values of legitimacy, coordination, engagement and seeking to ensure that IMCTC member countries efforts are consistent with international rules and norms. 


The workshop also touched upon the role of centers in addressing violent extremism rhetoric, the various challenges facing them, as well as countering extremism via community engagement programs and the role of media outlets and social media platforms.


The workshop stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination among the members of the Network of Countering Violent Extremism Centers, promoting the role of family engagement in protecting the community, in addition to the role of social media and media organizations in general in dealing with violent extremism. ​
