July 25, 2019- Riyadh: His Excellency Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, received Commander-in-Chief of the National Defence Forces of Burundi, Lieutenant General Prime Niyongabo, at the IMCTC Headquarters in Riyadh. Both sides further discussed avenues of joint collaboration and strengthening of relations during the visit.

Meanwhile, Al-Moghedi highlighted IMCTC objectives and achievements in the fight against terrorism across the four domains (Ideology, Communications, Countering Terrorist Financing and Military). Al-Moghedi also emphasized the importance of joint collaboration and exchange of experience and expertise in fighting violent extremism and terrorism between both sides.

Niyongabo, for his part, commended IMCTC efforts to coordinate and multiply the efforts of its 41 Member Countries in the global fight against terrorism and violent extremism and to effectively join other international security and peacekeeping efforts.

Niyongabo’s visit comes within the context of the IMCTC efforts to establish strategic partnerships among the IMCTC Member Countries, Supporting Nations and international organizations and to promote ongoing cooperation with all countries around the world to build capacity, exchange global best practices, share counter-terrorism information and expertise and join other international efforts to maintain international peace and security.
