As part of the series of programs and presentations organized by the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), IMCTC Center held a presentation entitled “Cybersecurity:  Threats, Challenges and Protection”, on Wednesday, 27 January 2021, at its headquarters in Riyadh. The presentation was presented by Dr. Basil bin Abdullah AsSadhan, Associate Professor of Cybersecurity at King Saud University, under the patronage of IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed Bin Saeed Al-Moghedi and in the presence of Dr. Jalal Fareed Al-Muhtadi, Director of the Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (COEIA) at King Saud University, IMCTC member countries’ delegates and IMCTC personnel.

Dr. AsSadhan highlighted the concept of cybersecurity, its risks, challenges and impact on organizations, governments and individuals, which lead to the disruption of security and financial-related works through cyber threats, social engineering and protection mechanisms.

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi stressed that systems, networks and programs must be protected from digital attacks, usually aimed at accessing, altering or destroying sensitive information or extorting money from users. He also noted the considerable advantages of these organized programs which focus on the IMCTC domains of action (ideology, communications, countering terrorist financing and military), and can contribute directly or indirectly to the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
