The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) held its ninth monthly symposium under the theme of “Terrorist Ideology” on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in the grand auditorium at the IMCTC Center. The delegates of the Republic of Sierra Leone and the delegates of the Republic of The Gambia to IMCTC have participated in the symposium which was moderated by Col. Simeon Sheriff (retd), head of the Sierra Leone delegation. The symposium was held under the patronage of the Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed Bin Saeed Al-Moghedi and in the presence of the Military Commander of IMCTC H. E. Gen. Raheel Sharif (retd) and in the presence of member countries’ delegates and IMCTC personnel.  

The symposium addressed the role of Ideology in violent extremism and terrorism, as Ideology is one of the IMCTC domains of action. It also included the definition of terrorist ideology, history of its evolution and its major role in delivering the messages that appeal to the human conscience to motivate and propel ordinary human beings to embrace these destructive thoughts.

The symposium came as part of the activities and events held by the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC). 

It is noteworthy that IMCTC is an alliance of 41 countries that work together to coordinate and multiply their efforts in the global fight against violent extremism and terrorism and to join other international security and peacekeeping efforts.​
