During the presentation, an analysis was made of the linkages between terrorism and smuggling and the methods used by terrorist organizations in illicit smuggling mechanisms to enhance the economic resources that support these violent extremist groups, enabling them to gain power. On the other hand, Colonel Nikapisse emphasized the direct impact of smuggling operations on the international economy, as it reached $31.5 billion in 2018 in and around conflict areas.
It is noteworthy that the presentation comes as a part of the series of symposia, presentations and roundtable discussions organized in the Military domain, which is one of IMCTC domains of action, i.e., Ideology, Communications, Counter Terrorist Financing and Military domains.
