The Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counterterrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi visited, on Wednesday, Sep.1, 2021, the headquarters of the ministry of information in the State of Kuwait. He was received by the undersecretary of the ministry of information for external media, Mr. Faisal Al-Mutalqam and other senior officials. Over the course of the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest.
Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi underscored the critical role of media outlets, both digital and conventional, in countering terrorism and violent extremism and pointed out that communication is a double-edged sword that can lead to moderation, tolerance or to violence and extremism. He further added that the communications domain is the second area of IMCTC’s domains of action, namely (ideology, communications, counter terrorist financing and military), and that is imperative to carve out a moderate communication discourse that counter violent extremism narrative and expose the criminal activities of the terrorist groups.
