IMCTC announced on Thursday, September 1, 2022, the accession of the Republic of Kenya to IMCTC as a member state, bringing total number of its member states to 42, since the Coalition was established.

The launch of the accession announcement began with a ceremony during which Kenya's flag was hoisted alongside the flags of other 41 member countries, at IMCTC headquarters, in the presence of Kenya's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Peter Nicholas Ogego, Kenya's Delegate to IMCTC, Col. Mohamed Aden, in addition to a delegation from the Kenyan embassy in Riyadh.

In his remarks during the ceremony, IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi pointed out that the accession of Kenya to IMCTC is a positive and welcome step from the Kenyan government that reflects its keenness to participate in international organizations focused on countering terrorism and violent extremism.

Further, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi stressed that Kenya's religious, cultural diversity and its important geographic location in east Africa is going to have a significant positive impact as an IMCTC member state, given the fact that Kenya is a very active member in several regional and international counter-terrorism organizations.

It is worth noting that IMCTC comprises 42 countries that work together to coordinate, consolidate and support ideology, communications, CTF and military efforts with high degree of efficiency and effectiveness to counter terrorism in partnership with friendly countries and international organizations.
