The Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counterterrorism Coalition (IMCTC) received today, Tuesday, 07-09-2021, at its headquarters in Riyadh, the Chief of the General Staff of the Mauritanian Armies Lt. Gen. Mohamed Bamba Maguett and the accompanying delegation. 

Lt. Gen. Maguett received a detailed briefing on IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts across the four domains (ideology, communications, counter terrorist financing and military) and its role in coordinating member countries’ efforts in this regard. The meeting also explored common avenues of cooperation between IMCTC and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. 

 IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Saeed Al-Moghedi pointed out that IMCTC represents a fully integrated platform that seeks to strengthen cooperation between member countries, as well as operating based on the values of legitimacy, independence, coordination, participation and ensuring that all member countries’ efforts are in line with international regulations, norms and laws.  

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi commended the leading role played by the Republic of Mauritania in countering terrorism and violent extremism in its all forms and across the various domains in the western Sahel region and for its persistent efforts in eliminating extremism and violence. 

For his part, the Chief of the General Staff of the Mauritanian Armies commended the great role played by IMCTC in the serving the interests of its member countries across the various counterterrorism domains and lauded its achievement in countering terrorism and violent extremism. Further, Lt. Gen. Maguett commended the leading role of the host country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for establishing this Coalition and make it an independent entity with a global standing in counterterrorism.
