An IMCTC Delegation, including Member Countries' Delegates, Visits the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (ETIDAL)

​​​An IMCTC delegation, including member countries’ delegates, headed by IMCTC secretary General Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, visited the headquarters of the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal) on Thursday, February 10, 2022, and was received by Etidal's Secretary-General, Dr. Mansour Al-Shammari.

During the course of the visit, the delegation received a briefing on Etidal’s activities and the key areas on which it focuses in combating extremist ideology and promoting the culture of moderation. Further, the delegation was also briefed on Etidal center’s strategies, how it operates in monitoring, analyzing, technologies used, as well as the models that are being developed to parse the discourse of extremist ideology. 

For his part, IMCTC Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi commended Etidal center’s work and the role of its personnel and stressed that the IMCTC and Etidal seek to realize the same objective, namely, countering terrorism in all its forms, shapes, manifestations and uprooting violence, extremism and disseminating the culture of moderation and tolerance. 

At the end of the visit, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi wrote a statement in the guest book and a group photo was taken with IMCTC member countries’ delegates. 

The visit comes as part of IMCTC’s keenness to build strategic partnerships between member countries, supporting nations, international organizations/centers, as well as deepening the ties and ongoing collaboration with all other stakeholders for capacity-building, information sharing, exchange of expertise, international best practices in counterterrorism and joining other international efforts aimed at maintaining international peace and security.
