Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Defense Visits the Islamic Military Counter-terrorism Coalition (IMCTC)

​​​IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, received on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at IMCTC’s headquarters in Riyadh, HE, Dato’ Sri Ikmal Hisham bin Abdulaziz, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Defense and the accompanying delegation.

HE, the Deputy Minister of Defense, received a detailed briefing on IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts across the four domains (ideology, communications, counter terrorist financing, and military) and its role in coordinating IMCTC member countries’ efforts in this regard. The meeting also explored common avenues of cooperation between IMCTC and Malaysia.

IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi pointed out that IMCTC operates a fully integrated platform that seeks to strengthen cooperation between member countries, as well as functioning based on the values of legitimacy, independence, coordination, participation and ensuring that all member countries’ efforts are in line with international regulations, norms, and laws.

Moreover, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi highlighted the significant role played by Malaysia in countering terrorism, violent extremism in its all forms and manifestations in East Asia region, in addition to its constant efforts to root out extremism and denounce violence. 

For his part, the Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Defense commended the leading role played by IMCTC in serving the interests of its member countries across the various counterterrorism domains. He further applauded IMCTC achievements in countering terrorism and violent extremism, in addition to the holistic approach of its domains of action. HE also praised the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, IMCTC host country, in establishing and supporting this Coalition to become an independent organization that enjoys international standing in countering terrorism.
