IMCTC receives EASF Delegation

The Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition received, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, a delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) led by its Director Brig.  (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema.

At the outset of the meeting, the visiting delegation was briefed on briefed on IMCTC's counterterrorism mission, objectives, and initiatives. For its part, the EASF delegation briefed IMCTC on its peace and security mission. The meeting also discussed areas of cooperation between IMCTC and EASF to advance the interests of all Member States.

Following that Brig. Njema and the accompanying delegation toured IMCTC premises and got familiarized with its counter-terrorism publications on ideology, communications, counter-terrorist financing, and military domains, in addition to IMCTC's monitoring and tracking of extremist groups and terrorist organizations' activities, as well as producing regular reports and statistics on such activities.

The Secretary-General of IMCTC Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi underscored the importance of EASF delegation visit to IMCTC as part of the common cooperation between counter-terrorism organizations and for opening better opportunities for collective, participatory action on counterterrorism and rejection of violence and extremism. He further stressed that EASF plays a significant role in strengthening the security and stability in the Eastern Africa region and the visit comes as part of the regional and continental efforts for military capacity building and cooperation among Eastern African countries, including intervention during crises, conflicts, humanitarian aid, and provision of military support for member states during emergencies. 

For his part, Brig. Njema pointed out that he is very pleased with IMCTC's actions and achievements on countering terrorism, stressed the importance of IMCTC's support for member states on the civilian and military aspects, and commended the cooperation between IMCTC and EASF to advance the interests of member countries to eradicate the scourge of terrorism that has plagued countless people around the world.​
