The Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition received, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, a delegation of officers of the Advanced Command & Staff Course from the Defense Academy of the United Kingdom, led by Brig. Matt Jackson, Director of the Defense Academy of UK's Command and Staff College. IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi received the visiting delegation.

At the outset of the meeting, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi welcomed the British delegation and the multi-national officers of the UK Defense Academy and highlighted the depth of the strategic relationships between the UK and IMCTC Member States.

Thereafter, the visiting delegation received a briefing on IMCTC's vision, mission and objectives across its four counter-terrorism domains, namely ideology, communications, counter-terrorist financing and military and was also brought up to speed on the latest developments updates regarding terrorist groups and incidents around the world, as well as the means through which IMCTC keeps track of them.

For his part, IMCTC Secretary-General pointed out that IMCTC is founded on the noble principle of countering the incitement of violence; tackling all radical narratives, beliefs and ideologies. He further stressed that violent extremism, in its all forms and manifestations, has no particular belief, religion or geographical region, but rather a perverted and twisted ideology.

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi added that having the United Kingdom as an IMCTC supporting country has a strategic significance and dimension on the collective efforts needed to counter the scourge of terrorism. Defeating terrorism requires concerted and participatory efforts by all countries, international relevant organizations and centers to eradicate this perverted ideology, cut off its finances and communications tools, he said.

The visiting delegation extended its appreciation and gratitude for the warm reception, hospitality and commended IMCTC's comprehensive approach in countering extremism and terrorism.

It is worth noting that this visit comes within the framework of strengthening international relations between IMCTC, Member States, and Supporting Nations for the purpose of information and expertise sharing.
