Commending the Role Played by IMCTC - The Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces Visits the IMCTC

The Saudi Chief of General Staff, Gen. Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, received at IMCTC headquarters in Riyadh, Thursday, March 24, 2022, the Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Sabah and the accompanying delegation and was received by IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi. Both sides discussed the avenues of joint cooperation between IMCTC and the State of Kuwait on issues of mutual interest. 

Over the course of the visit, Lt. Gen. Al-Sabah received a detailed briefing on IMCTC counterterrorism efforts across the four domains (ideology, communication, counter-terrorist financing and military) as well as its role in coordinating and intensifying member countries’ efforts.  

Further, Lt. Gen. Al-Sabah commended the role played by the IMCTC across the various counterterrorism domains, and pointed out that terrorism is a scourge that require all countries and organizations to act in concert to counter it by all ways and means. Moreover, he also pointed out that the means of dealing with terrorist organizations are evolving constantly due to the advances in technology. He underlined the importance of the ideology component as the key and most important pillar in countering terrorism, then comes countering their communications networks, malicious messages, followed by cutting of any sources that might provide them with the funding needed for carrying out their criminal schemes and finally defeating them militarily.   

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi commended the significant and leading role of the State of Kuwait in countering terrorism and violent extremism in its various forms, shapes, and the fact that Kuwait is a member in many regional and international relevant organizations, its belief in tolerance, coexistence and denunciation of violence and extremism. 

In conclusion, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi stressed that IMCTC operates as a fully integrated organization that seeks to strengthen cooperation amongst its member countries in countering terrorism across the various domains, as well as functioning based on the values of legitimacy, independence, coordination, participation and ensuring that all member countries’ efforts are in line with international laws, norms and regulations.
