The Chief of the Defense Force of the Republic of Maldives Receives IMCTC Secretary-General

The Chief of the Defense Force of the Republic of Maldives, Maj. Gen. Abdulla Shamaal, received, on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counterterrorism Coalition, Maj. Gen. Mohammad bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, at the headquarters of the General Staff Presidency of Maldives’ Defense Ministry in Male’.  

Over the course of the meeting the, Maj. Gen. Abdulla Shamaal was briefed on IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts and its role in coordinating and intensifying member countries' efforts, in addition, both sides discussed avenues of joint cooperation between the IMCTC and the Republic of Maldives in matters of mutual interest. 

Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi pointed out that IMCTC represents a fully integrated platform that seeks to strengthen cooperation between member countries, and operates based on the values of legitimacy, independence, coordination, participation and ensuring that all member countries’ efforts are in line with international regulations, norms and laws.  

Further, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi commended the key role played by the Republic of Maldives in countering terrorism and violent extremism in its all forms, shapes and manifestations, as well as being a member of many regional and international organizations, in addition to its belief in tolerance, coexistence and denunciation of violence and extremism.
