The IMCTC's pavilion witnessed a turnout of Abu Dhabi International Book Fair's visitors, in its 31st session, including HE. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence.
IMCTC’s pavilion participating in this fair is allocated to publicize the Coalition's mission, tasks, and strategic vision. The fair featured distributing the latest publications issued by the Coalition, and they mainly focus on various counterterrorism domains.
Meanwhile, IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed S. Al-Moghedi confirmed that the direct communication with the public at large is one of the strategic tools used to counter terrorism, convey knowledge and explanatory messaging that is concerned with detecting and deterring different terrorist groups as well as their tactics and tools used to disseminate their deviant thoughts to induce youth. Further, His Excellency added that the key target in counterterrorism is ideology and how to reformulate it to be constructively oriented that renounces violence and extremism, followed by media messaging which disseminates media materials revealing the attitudes of these terrorist groups and expose their false thoughts, and then working on eradicating all sources of funding required to achieve their criminal schemes funded by illicit trade and money laundering, leading to defeat them militarily.
It is worth noting that this is the second participation for IMCTC in the regional, international book and cultural fairs and stressing the need for opening up channels of communication and educating the general public about the perils of terrorism and curbing the threat of violent extremism.
