The Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Moghedi met in Nouakchott with the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Maj. Gen. Suleiman Abudah.

Over the course of the visit, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi received a briefing on the key functions of the General Secretariat of Mauritania's Defense Ministry, its initiative to establish the G5 Sahel Alliance. Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi brought Maj. Gen. Abudah up to speed on IMCTC's initiatives and strategy across counter-terrorism domains.

Further, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi met at the headquarters the G5 Sahel Defense College in in Nouakchott, with its Commandant, Maj. Gen. Brahim Cheibani, and received a briefing on the College's mission, strategic objectives and latest developments in the G5 Sahel countries. Moreover, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest and explored avenues of cooperation between IMCTC and G5SDC.

The visits are part of IMCTC's efforts to boost engagement programs with member countries to strengthen cooperation and step up international efforts in countering terrorism and extremism.​
