IMCTC Hosts a Symposium on the “Role of Media Outlets in Countering Terrorism"

The Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) will host a media symposium titled; "The Role of Media Outlets in Countering Terrorism" at its headquarters in Riyadh, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, bringing together media and communications specialists, both civilian and military, from around IMCTC Member Countries.

The keynote speakers at the symposium include;
  Dr. Ibrahim Zakariyya Moosa, Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives, on the media strategies for raising awareness about the dangers of terrorism and extremism,

Mr. Mohamed Rahman Swaray, Information and Communication Minister, Republic of Sierra Leone, who will address the use of social media platforms in curbing the spread of extremism,

Dr. Amr El-Leithy, Director General of OIC Islamic Broadcasting Union (IBU), who will address the connection between the new media and terrorism activities.

Dr. Fayez Al-Shehri, member of the Saudi Shura Council, will moderate the event. 

The symposium seeks to strengthen the level of coordination and cooperation, as well as to deepen discussions among the media, ideological, and cultural sectors, in order to come up with effective solutions that help in countering terrorism across communications and ideological arena and come up with media and ideological recommendations in this respect.
