IMCTC Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, met with HE, the Defense Minister of the Republic of Kenya, Adam Duale Bare, where they discussed matters pertaining to counter-terrorism and violent extremism.

HE the Defense Minister of the Republic of Kenya, pointed out, during the reception of the Secretary General of the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition, that IMCTC's ideology, communications, counter-terrorism financing, and military domains are the strategic pillars through which IMCTC acts to counter terrorism and violent extremism. He added that the twisted ideological mindset lies at the root of extremism that can be further shaped by incitement and malicious rhetoric. He further added that de-radicalization programs could help reintegrating radicalized individuals back into society and are part of the proactive methods meant to deter violent extremism and bringing such individuals back into the fold.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi stressed that the strategic initiatives undertaken by IMCTC to counter terrorism across the four domains took into account the levels of the gravity of terrorism perils. Thus, the warped ideology in its all forms, shapes, the role of social media platforms, illicit financial resources and the military support, can complement one another within a methodical and well thought out strategy.

It is worth noting that this visit is part of the engagement programs with IMCTC member countries aimed at strengthening counter-terrorism and extremism efforts.  The Republic of Kenya joined IMCTC in September in 2022. IMCTC comprises 42 member countries.
